Most of us want to lose a few kilos to fit into that special dress for big day. Some are perfectly happy the way they are. I myself want to “try” and lose a few kilos and I know for a fact….I can’t afford the gym also have no time with the boys soccer training and matches. So a colleague at work introduced me to the 5:2 diet. And OMG this is so easy and simple to follow. I have tried absolutely everything from diet pills to protein diets, to extreme excercise (while costing me a fortune). The 5:2 diet, or fast diet, is a diet which is basically a calorie restriction diet for two non-consecutive days a week and unconstrained eating the other five days.
Here’s a quick description from Wikipedia:
The diet specifies a low calorieconsumption (sometimes described as “fasting”) for two days a week, which should not be consecutive, but allows unmoderated eating for the other five days.Men may eat 600 calories (2,500 kJ) on fasting days, and women 500 calories (2,100 kJ). A typical fasting day may include a breakfast of 300 calories (1,300 kJ), such as two scrambled eggs with ham, water, green tea, or black coffee, and a lunch or dinner of grilled fish or meat with vegetables, amounting to 300 calories.
If you don’t mind counting calories then this is a great starter. You soon learn what you can eat and what you can’t, and you won’t need to count your calories. There are great apps to help you determine how many calories are in what food.
Seek advice from your local GP before starting any diet. 💜
